Hello my name is Vicki and i am the maker / designer behind Barbary Wood Jewellery Design.

I am passionate about the natural world and the commitment we have to halting climate change and this influences every aspect of my personal and creative life.

I studied Textiles and Surface Decoration at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen 1993 to 1997 and began my jewellery journey when I created Barbary Wood Jewellery Design in 2012.

In 2021 I began working with Jesmonite resin upon discovering its wonderful texural qualities alongside its green credentials. I use different layering techniques with the resin to create painterly effects, meaning I have to let each layer dry before applying the other one. its quite a meditative, slow process which teaches you to be patient, let each piece of resin build up to the required effect.

I am striving to be as ethical and eco friendly with every aspect of my creative business and have joined the growing number of businesses pledging to be plastic free, I am a proud member of the Plastic Free Champions in Dunfermline, Fife.

All materials I use are free of animal products and I make my own vegan friendly sealant which has no petroleum or oil based ingredients.
